Enter the “dead” land with Ready or Not’s Dark Waters DLC

Ready or Not, the tactical first-person shooter (FPS), has just celebrated its first anniversary since version 1.0.

Over the past year, the game has built a strong community, but also encountered some controversy. To mark this important milestone, developer Void Interactive has released a new DLC called Dark Waters, with 3 unique “ocean” maps and significant improvements to AI, promising to bring a new experience to players.

Ready or Not has always prided itself on being as realistic and tense as any multiplayer tactical shooter. As a member of a 5-person SWAT team, players will have to deal with dangerous situations in the fictional California city of Los Sueños. However, with Dark Waters, players will get a “change of pace” with missions offshore.

Leviathan: The “suffocating” oil rig

The first and most popular map in Dark Waters is Leviathan, set in an oil rig. This map is divided into 3 different areas, requiring players to have appropriate tactics and equipment.

  • Outside area: Open platform, affected by the weather. Rain will reduce the player’s visibility, and there are also fewer places to hide. Players can use the camera directly from the reconnaissance helicopter to observe the situation.
  • Inside area: Includes narrow rooms surrounding the oil rig area. This is the enemy’s “territory”, where players must be careful and use weapons such as grenades to handle the situation.

Three Letter Triad: The “creepy” abandoned hotel

The second map, Three Letter Triad, is set in an abandoned hotel on a small island. The hotel’s “brutalist” architecture has been “swallowed” by nature, but there are still traces of humans hidden inside. The “gloomy” atmosphere and dark corners promise to bring players memorable “heart-stopping” moments.

The third map, Mirage at Sea, takes place on a luxury yacht after a party. The main suspect of this mission is a “boss”, but the details have not been revealed. However, with a completely different setting from the other two maps, Mirage at Sea promises to bring new experiences to players.

AI improvements and new weapons

In addition to the three new maps, Dark Waters also brings many free improvements to the gameplay of Ready or Not. Most importantly, the enemy AI system has been significantly upgraded, with many new actions, the ability to call for help, and a more diverse equipment system. Enemies can now use flashlights, sidearms, and even pretend to be unarmed to fool players.

Note: These improvements will be applied to all maps, including those in the original version and the Home Invasion DLC.

In addition, players will experience 5 new weapons: MK17, GA51, M14S-16, MP5SD6, and G3.

With unique maps and valuable gameplay improvements, Dark Waters is a “quality” DLC for Ready or Not. It is also a great way for Void Interactive to celebrate the first anniversary of the official release of the game.
